Job Requirements

U.S. citizenship
Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years
Maximum age limit of 40 for initial appointment with possible age waiver
Minimum of 1,500 flight hours with waivers allowed
250 pilot-in-command hours
75 instrument flight hours
75 night flight hours
100 flight hours within last 12 months
FAA Class 2 medical certificate within past 12 months
Successful completion of required CBP training
Willingness to travel for operational needs

Job Qualifications

One year of specialized professional aviation experience including duties as pilot-in-command or sole manipulator in an airplane or helicopter
FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with appropriate ratings
Experience flying in challenging conditions such as night, poor weather, low altitude, or high speed
Skilled in evaluating information rapidly and making decisions promptly
Ability to develop strategies and coordinate tactical operations
Use of aviation information systems and databases
Military rating equivalent considered
UAS flight hours creditable toward total flight time

Job Duties

Conducting air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities related to interdiction of smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels
Monitoring behavior patterns and activities of suspect persons, vehicles, or vessels believed to be engaged in illegal activities
Collecting, refining, and analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence
Supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts
Coordinating aircraft and ground assets during operations
Making rapid, judicious decisions during in-flight operations
Using information systems to conduct surveys, queries, and disseminate information
