Job Description

Cranbrook Educational Community, established in 1904 by Detroit philanthropists George and Ellen Booth, stands as a premier institution dedicated to education, science, and the arts. Located in the picturesque setting of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Cranbrook is renowned as one of the most enchanting and historically significant educational communities in the United States, having been designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989. With a diverse array of components including a graduate Academy of Art, a contemporary Art Museum, the Center for Collections and Research, House and Gardens, Institute of Science, and independent college preparatory schools serving over 1,600 students from Pre-K through 12th grade, Cranbrook plays a vital role in fostering creativity, innovation, and academic excellence. The campus welcomes thousands of students and visitors annually, providing a uniquely collaborative environment that bridges education, research, and the arts.

The Advancement Coordinator at Cranbrook Educational Community is a full-time role reporting to the Donor Experience Manager. This position is integral to supporting the Central Advancement team by providing both administrative and operational assistance. The Advancement Coordinator's primary responsibility is to ensure smooth advancement operations while strengthening donor stewardship and supporting key fundraising initiatives across the entire Cranbrook community. This role involves comprehensive collaboration with various departments and Program Areas, emphasizing effective donor communication, meticulous event coordination, accurate gift processing, and reporting.

Serving as both a liaison and an operational backbone, the Advancement Coordinator is responsible for pulling donor data from RE NXT, creating fundraising reports, coordinating meetings, managing donor correspondence, and handling various logistical duties related to board-level Advancement and Development Committee functions. The role also requires hands-on management of fundraising appeals, stewardship communications, and online presence updates associated with advancement efforts. Event coordination forms a significant portion of the role, ranging from planning and executing fundraising events to managing invitations, RSVPs, onsite services, and volunteer activities. Additionally, the Advancement Coordinator supports donor acknowledgment processing and acts as a key interface with gift processing and accounting teams to maintain reconciliation and deposit accuracy.

This position demands a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently. Candidates with a background in nonprofit development and a working knowledge of fundraising concepts are preferred. Proficiency with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge and RE NXT systems, alongside advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management, are essential. The job offers a competitive starting pay rate between $25 and $25.50 per hour, with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, disability coverage, retirement programs with employer contribution, paid time off, holidays, employee discounts, and the opportunity to work in a collaborative and inspiring educational environment. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a resume and cover letter for consideration.
