As the surgery center affiliated with our renowned orthopaedic practice, the center is committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care and comfort. We operate in a modern and well-equipped environment designed to meet the complex needs of orthopaedic patients, ensuring safe and efficient surgical procedures and seamless patient admissions. The center emphasizes a patient-centric approach with a focus on compassionate service, comprehensive preparation, and smooth admission processes.\n\nWe are currently seeking a full-time Patient Admission Specialist to join our team. This position is key to ensuring that patients are greeted warmly and admitted efficiently to the Surgery Center of Kansas. The role involves handling various administrative and clerical tasks necessary to facilitate patient admissions, including verifying pre-certifications for procedures and assisting with scheduling. The ideal candidate will have proficient knowledge of medical terminology, be comfortable working with Windows-based applications, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.\n\nThe Patient Admission Specialist will operate primarily during a full-time schedule from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, with some flexibility preferred to accommodate any scheduling demands. This role demands punctual attendance, a professional demeanor, and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to the overall team climate of the center. The specialist will be responsible for maintaining compliance with organizational standards as well as HIPAA and OSHA healthcare regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and workplace safety.\n\nThis role offers an excellent opportunity to be an integral part of a dedicated orthopaedic surgery center, working closely with skilled professionals in a supportive and dynamic environment. The admission specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience by performing reception duties efficiently and managing patient records accurately, directly impacting the quality of service and operational flow within the center.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology
  • 2 years reception experience preferred
  • Medical office experience a plus
  • Proficiency with Windows based applications
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Clerical skills
  • Ability to maintain poise and tact
  • Ability to work flexible schedule

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology
  • 2 years reception experience preferred, medical office experience a plus
  • Proficiency with Windows based applications, including word-processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Clerical skills such as filing, multi-line phones, transferring calls, operating basic office equipment, greeting visitors

Job Duties

  • Verify pre-certification of procedure and coordinate admission of patient to surgery center
  • Perform reception and clerical duties and assist with scheduling functions
  • Obtain, assemble and store medical record for each patient and assign chart number
  • Process requests for release of patient information
  • Perform medical record audits for presence of required documents
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA standards for healthcare facilities
  • Personally adhere to the standards, rules, and procedures of the KOC Compliance and HIPAA Programs and contribute to ensuring the organizational commitment to compliance and HIPAA regulations
