Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous administrative or secretarial experience
  • proficiency in computer applications including data entry
  • ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • capability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • physical ability to lift up to 20 lbs
  • willingness to follow established procedures and policies
  • ability to work under the direction of a supervisor
  • commitment to public service

Job Duties

  • Greet program participants and visitors in a pleasant and courteous manner and act as receptionist
  • screen incoming telephone calls, answer callers' questions, take messages, and/or redirect calls
  • open, sort, and distribute mail
  • file, index, and process office records, legal documents, and related materials
  • prepare and type requests for the purchase of supplies
  • enter data in the computer system
  • compose correspondence in accordance with established procedures
  • prepare and handle correspondence of a sensitive and confidential nature
  • type correspondence, forms, labels, and miscellaneous documents
  • maintain logs and other records
  • occasionally observe program participants' urine drug tests
  • perform related duties as assigned
