Job Description

The Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) located at Fort Bragg is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting military service members, their families, and the military community with a range of programs and services designed to enhance their quality of life. The ASYMCA operates at the intersection of community service and military support, offering various programs such as youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility initiatives. As part of the broader YMCA network, the ASYMCA serves a vital role in fostering resilience and well-being for military families through its diverse outreach, educational opportunities, and wellness programs. Situated at 2411 Rodney Trail, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the ASYMCA Fort Bragg branch has established itself as a hub for community engagement and military family support.

Within this vibrant and impactful setting, the ASYMCA Fort Bragg is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Administrative Assistant to fill the role of Front Desk Receptionist. This position is integral to the smooth operation of the organization, acting as the welcoming face and primary point of contact for visitors, volunteers, and members of the military community. The role is a part-time position, scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, totaling approximately 25 hours per week, with compensation set at $11.00 per hour. This role transcends the traditional receptionist duties by allowing the incumbent to immerse themselves in various program areas, from administrative tasks to hands-on support activities.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate high energy, adaptability, and a strong team spirit to succeed in this dynamic environment. Key responsibilities include managing guest relations with professionalism and warmth, handling a multi-line phone system for efficient communication, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the facility's front desk and lobby areas. Additionally, the Administrative Assistant will utilize the Daxco registration system to manage memberships and program sign-ups, update digital records including Excel spreadsheets to keep data accurate, and provide critical logistical support for several ongoing programs.

Programs supported by the Administrative Assistant include Operation Deploy Your Dress (ODYD), which involves organizing donated formal wear; the Food Pantry, requiring inventory management and stock organization; Operation Little Learners (OLL), where classroom assistance is provided; and the Baby Bundles initiative, focusing on assembling essential supply bundles for new parents as well as training volunteers. This multifaceted role demands excellent organizational skills, communication proficiency, and a genuine commitment to serving the military community. Military spouses, veterans, and those affiliated with the military are especially encouraged to apply, as the ASYMCA prioritizes an inclusive culture and equal employment opportunities. The organization actively prohibits discrimination and harassment, fostering an equitable workplace where all employees are respected and valued.

The ASYMCA also utilizes minimal artificial intelligence technology during initial recruitment stages to enhance efficiency, but all hiring decisions remain thoroughly vetted by human review to ensure fairness and quality in selecting candidates. As a member of this team, the Administrative Assistant will contribute significantly to the mission of supporting military families while gaining valuable experience in both administrative and programmatic capacities. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about community service and eager to make a meaningful impact within a respected nonprofit organization dedicated to the well-being of military service members and their families.
