SUNY Erie Community College is currently seeking part-time adjunct faculty members for the Hospitality Management Department. This role offers a competitive hourly wage of $53.33 and is classified under the FFECC Teaching PT union/position status. Adjunct faculty members play a critical role in delivering quality education by teaching and evaluating students in department courses based on established guidelines. Reporting directly to the Department Chair, adjunct faculty are responsible for preparing lesson plans, instructional materials, and maintaining accurate records of student progress. This position requires instructors to be well-versed in their subject area, capable of creating an engaging learning environment, and eager to support student success through guidance and assistance.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts, Fine Arts, or Hospitality, with an AOS or AAS degree as well. While a nutrition background and American Culinary Federation (ACF) certification at the Sous Chef or Pastry Chef level or higher is desirable, extensive professional kitchen experience or equivalent experience in high-level culinary settings will also be considered. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, the ability to utilize diverse teaching strategies, and be adept at managing computerized student records. Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and professionalism are essential, along with a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for a diverse student body. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in appropriate area
- AOS or AAS in Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts, Fine Arts and Hospitality
- professional or educational experience in high-level kitchens, bakeshops, restaurants, or higher education institutions
