The role being offered is an Adjunct Faculty position in Communications at Baker College of Owosso. This position is an exciting opportunity for passionate educators who are dedicated to excellence in teaching and student success to contribute to the future of Baker College's academic programs. The Adjunct Faculty member will be an essential part of a dynamic academic community, inspiring and empowering students in alignment with the institution's student-first learning model. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality courses, bringing innovation and creativity to the classroom, and supporting academic achievement by leveraging modern learning technologies such as Canvas, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Apps. The position also involves participating in curriculum design and continuous improvement efforts, assessing student learning, offering constructive feedback, and actively engaging in the Faculty Growth and Evaluation Process. Additionally, adjunct faculty members may have opportunities to participate in committees, projects, and initiatives that promote educational excellence and support professional development.

The candidate ideal for this role will hold at least a Master’s degree in English, literature, composition, rhetoric, writing, or a related subfield, including journalism or an MFA in creative writing. Those with a Doctorate degree are preferred. Experience in higher education is highly valued, with an emphasis on teaching proficiency and curriculum development. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are critical to effectively connect with students and colleagues alike. Job Requirements

  • master’s degree in English, literature, composition, rhetoric, writing, or related subfield or any master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in English, literature, composition, rhetoric, writing, or written communications
  • doctorate degree preferred
  • experience working in higher education particularly teaching and curriculum design
  • proficiency with learning management systems especially Canvas
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, video conferencing tools, and internet use
  • strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Job Qualifications
