Job Description
The City and County of Broomfield (CCOB) is a dedicated steward of the Broomfield community, providing meaningful and impactful services designed to enhance the quality of life for its residents. The Parks, Recreation, and Senior Services Department is committed to fostering community well-being through diverse programs, events, and services. Within this department, the Senior Services Division focuses specifically on older adults, creating enriching opportunities for them to remain active, connected, and supported. The department's mission centers on delivering community-focused services that are both engaging and valuable, aiming to improve the overall well-being of the aging population in Broomfield and neighboring areas.
This position is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about working with older and active adults. The role primarily involves creating engaging experiences through a variety of programs such as trips, enrichment classes, wellness programs, and special events. As a Group Travel and Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading group travel from start to finish—this includes building detailed itineraries, coordinating with vendors, negotiating contracts, ensuring participant safety, and managing all logistics related to approximately 120 group trips annually. Alongside travel planning, you will support daily social and drop-in programming, facilitating a safe and welcoming environment for participants to foster community connections.
In addition to direct participant interaction, this role requires strong organizational skills to maintain accurate data within the RecTrac registration system, which supports the integrity of registration, reporting, and communication processes. You will oversee insurance-based fitness programs like SilverSneakers by managing attendance, documentation, and reimbursement reports according to program requirements. This role also involves building and sustaining collaborative relationships with internal teams, community organizations, and private vendors, ensuring compliance with contracts and service standards.
Occasionally, you will be responsible for transporting participants safely using a 15-passenger bus while adhering to safety protocols and licensing requirements. The position combines operational oversight with community engagement, requiring a person who is highly organized, detail-oriented, warm, and service-driven, with a genuine passion for supporting older adults. You will balance multiple programs and logistics simultaneously, ensuring smooth program delivery and participant satisfaction.
The total compensation package for this role includes an hourly salary ranging from $30.33 to $41.03, a free Recreation Center pass granting gym and pool access, 14 days of paid vacation, 10 sick days, and 12 holidays per year, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 6% employer retirement match, and wellness discounts on insurance premiums. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends, holidays, and evening hours, reflecting the community-orientated nature of the job and the need to meet participant needs effectively.
Overall, this position offers a fulfilling chance to positively impact the lives of older adults in Broomfield through dynamic programming and thoughtful travel experiences, supported by a competitive benefits package and a community-centered work environment.
