Job Description
Sierra Medical Center is a prominent acute care hospital operating under the Northern Nevada Health System, a respected regional multi-facility healthcare provider that serves the greater Truckee Meadows area. This 170-bed facility is committed to delivering high-quality medical care across a broad spectrum of services, including 24/7 emergency care, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), surgical, and orthopedic specialties among others. Sierra Medical Center’s dedication to compassionate, patient-centric care is reflected through its strong emphasis on core values such as compassion, empathy, teamwork, quality, ethics, respect, service excellence, and innovation. These values not only prioritize the well-being of patients but also foster a supportive and collaborative environment for physicians, staff, and the community it serves.
The opportunity presented is for a Per Diem Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) position at Sierra Medical Center, offering a flexible schedule conducive to work-life balance. As a vital member of the rehabilitation team, the COTA works closely under the supervision of the licensed occupational therapists to administer therapeutic interventions aimed at restoring patient function and preventing disability after injury, illness, or other physical challenges. The role includes applying occupational therapy modalities and physical agents as directed, observing and evaluating treatment outcomes, and assisting in patient assessments and reassessments for a diverse patient population that spans neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
The Occupational Therapist Assistant also plays a key role in supporting operational functions within the therapy department. This includes maintaining quality and performance improvement initiatives necessary for compliance with clinical standards and continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts. Integral to maintaining a safe and effective care environment, the COTA participates in infection control protocols, equipment training, and safety programs mandated by the organization. The position provides rewarding work in an environment focused on rehabilitation and patient empowerment, helping individuals achieve maximum functional independence and adapt to new life circumstances.
Sierra Medical Center is part of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), one of the largest and most respected healthcare providers nationally, recognized for excellence and inclusion. UHS is known for its commitment to employee development, career growth, and comprehensive benefits. The Per Diem Occupational Therapist Assistant role at Sierra Medical Center reflects this ethos, offering not only challenging and meaningful work but also the opportunity to be part of a dynamic health system that invests in its workforce and fosters a culture of respect and innovation. This role is ideal for professionals dedicated to patient care excellence who seek a flexible position within a high-quality hospital setting committed to community health and wellness.
