Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, or finance
  • At least 3 years’ experience working directly in accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Proficiency with accounting software systems
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations requiring quick turnaround
  • Experience working with multi-hotel environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Good communication skills both written and oral

Job Duties

  • Oversee the daily income audit reconciliation of the properties to ensure the daily reporting of income is accurate
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, review discrepancies and problematic accounts and guide staff to follow-up on accounts
  • Assist with producing the monthly financial statements – prepare and post the journal entries and accruals as it relates to payroll, utilities and direct expenses
  • Prepare the monthly, quarterly and annual hotels’ occupancy, sales/use tax
  • Coordinate and assist with the monthly forecast and annual budget process
  • Ensure the correct downloading of data into timekeeping systems
  • Manage weekly submission of time and attendance data, including gratuities
  • Work to reconcile accounting inaccuracies and imbalances
  • Train, monitor and coordinate the implementation and maintenance of financial and cash controls and information flow throughout the other departments in the hotel to ensure compliance, accurate records and minimized liabilities, losses and expenses
