Job Description
This job opportunity is offered by a district office, which typically serves as a central administrative hub for an educational or governmental district. The district office is responsible for overseeing various financial, operational, and support functions that ensure the smooth execution of district-wide programs and services. This establishment is committed to maintaining high standards of administrative efficiency and effective resource management to support the community it serves. Given that this role is within a district office, it often acts as a pivotal department in managing public funds, regulatory compliance, and service delivery across multiple institutions within the district.
The position available is within the secretarial and clerical domain, specifically assisting the Chief Financial Officer. The primary focus of this role is to efficiently handle district funds, including the management of district fees, serving as the Food Service Representative for the district, and assisting in maintaining the district’s inventory. As a key support role, the incumbent will be expected to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, administrators, and the public to uphold the district’s food service programs and financial policies.
In this capacity, the individual will perform a diverse range of duties that include cash handling such as making deposits and remote deposit processing, managing receipt journals, and correcting coding errors as necessary. They will also be responsible for the management of insufficient check processing, fee collection, and student refund processing. A critical part of the job involves administering the Child Nutrition Program (CNP), including processing applications and maintaining compliance with state nutrition reporting requirements through systems like KCAN for KSDE/CNP.
The role demands the maintenance of food service software programs, district fees systems integrated with the Student Information System (SIS), and supporting processes related to food service procurement and meal charge policies. The job further involves assisting in the reconciliation of daily and weekly food service receipts, supporting audits for food service sites as per state guidelines, and preparing weekly reports to keep all stakeholders informed. Staying current with changes in food service regulations and serving as the district liaison to the Food Service Management Company (FSMC) are also essential components of this position.
Additional responsibilities include coordinating and maintaining inventory processes and records at the district-wide level, assisting with compliance regarding federal and state wellness policies, and undertaking other duties as assigned. This role requires a professional with strong organizational skills, confidentiality, communication abilities, and the capacity to work in a high-intensity, fast-paced environment. Physical demands include sitting, standing, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and manual dexterity tasks. The work environment involves managing interruptions, working under deadlines, and coping with varying noise and temperature levels.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position, with the rate and schedule to be determined by the board, offering adjustments based on experience and qualifications. The role provides an excellent opportunity for candidates with a business-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience who aspire to contribute significantly to district financial operations and food service programs.
