Job Requirements

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
  • must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • must meet citizenship requirements
  • must be willing to undergo military training and assignments

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • basic knowledge of cooking techniques and experience preferred
  • ability to follow detailed instructions accurately

  • good physical stamina and dexterity

Job Duties

  • Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes
  • operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment
  • perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment
  • plan and prepare standard and dietetic menus
  • order food and supplies
  • store meats, poultry and other perishable items according to safety standards
  • ensure food safety and facility sanitation
