Job Requirements

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
  • Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Must meet citizenship requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of cooking methods and food preparation
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes

Job Duties

  • Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and saute as prescribed by Army recipes
  • Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment
  • Plan and prepare standardized and dietetic menus
  • Order and manage food and supply inventory
  • Ensure proper storage of meats, poultry and other perishable items
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food service facilities
