Job Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
- Must meet citizenship requirements
Job Qualifications

- Basic knowledge of cooking methods and food preparation
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes
- Strong attention to food safety and sanitation standards
- Good physical condition to handle kitchen equipment and supplies
- Interest in cooking, home economics, health, mathematics, accounting or chemistry
- Ability to work effectively in team environments
Job Duties
- Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and saute as prescribed by Army recipes
- Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment
- Plan and prepare standardized and dietetic menus
- Order and manage food and supply inventory
- Ensure proper storage of meats, poultry and other perishable items
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food service facilities
