The role demands physical stamina and the ability to work through various postures such as standing, walking, twisting, stooping, and reaching for extended periods. Additionally, the custodian must have a valid Class C driver’s license to operate city vehicles safely between parks and recreational facilities as scheduled by supervisory staff. They will maintain cleaning equipment properly, perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and air filters, and ensure overall upkeep of assigned equipment and facilities.

Communication skills are important as the custodian interacts with city officials, co-workers, and the general public in a courteous and effective manner. The city strongly emphasizes safety, proper handling of cleaning chemicals, and adherence to established procedures and instructions.

This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support public spaces that enhance community lifestyles. Even though the position does not provide benefits, the competitive hourly wage combined with flexible work hours makes it suitable for those needing a supplementary income or seeking employment with a reputable city government.
