Job Description
Fitz's Fish Ponds is a renowned company specializing in the design, construction, and maintenance of exceptional ponds, waterfalls, and a variety of water features. The company is highly regarded for its commitment to creating unique and creative water elements that enhance outdoor spaces and bring natural beauty to life. Fitz's Fish Ponds prides itself on its talented and inventive teams who contribute to the company’s expansion and success. They believe each water feature should be distinct, embracing innovative ideas and artistic designs to meet the specific needs and desires of their clients. As the company continues to grow, they actively seek new passionate individuals to join their dynamic team and contribute to their tradition of excellence and creativity.
The Fitz's Fish Ponds Summer Internship Program offers a paid, immersive experience from June through August 2026, designed to provide motivated individuals with real-world exposure in a multifaceted business environment. This program features a multi-track structure, providing interns with opportunities to gain hands-on experience, receive professional mentorship, and engage in collaborative projects that span various departments. The internship encompasses three progressive phases: company immersion, track specialization, and event collaboration. Interns begin by gaining foundational knowledge of the company and the overall industry through department rotations and professional development sessions. As the program progresses, they select a specialized track to deepen their skills by shadowing experienced team members and supporting real projects.
The program culminates with full participation in Koi Fest 2026, Fitz's Fish Ponds' largest annual event, where interns apply the skills they have acquired in a high-energy team environment, engaging in the planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of this prestigious festival. Participants can choose from diverse internship tracks such as event planning and coordination, marketing and social media, aquariums and aquascaping, fish health and aquatics, landscape design and architecture, human resources, service and construction, and logistics and vendor relations. The internship schedule runs from Tuesday to Thursday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, with potential for additional hours based on performance, especially during Koi Fest preparation and event weeks. The pay rate for this role is $16 per hour.
Throughout the internship, participants receive guidance through weekly professional development workshops focusing on essential career skills, including resume writing, interview preparation, workplace communication, career exploration, professional branding on LinkedIn, and networking. Ideal candidates are college students or recent graduates aged 18 and older who are interested in business-related fields, event planning, aquatics, landscaping, retail, marketing, or customer service. They should exhibit a positive attitude, strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, commitment to the entire program duration, and a passion for animals, outdoor work, or event environments. The program requires applicants to submit a resume, a brief cover letter or personal statement expressing their interest, availability for the full internship period, and their preferred internship track(s).
This internship not only provides valuable hands-on experience but also offers several benefits such as a Fitz's Fish Ponds swag pack, professional development opportunities, letters of recommendation, certificates of completion, and access to networking and mentorship connections. High-performing interns may even be considered for seasonal or permanent positions at one of Fitz's Fish Ponds' nine locations. The program concludes with a celebration and potential performance-based bonus, making it an excellent stepping stone for individuals seeking to launch or enhance their careers in a creative, nature-oriented business environment.
