This role is for a Baker who will play a pivotal role in the bakery department by performing various essential functions related to baking, finishing, and merchandising quality bakery products using Bashas' established recipes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for mixing, weighing, proofing, baking, frying, decorating, and merchandise preparation, helping maintain product inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring proper pricing and signage are implemented. Bakers will also be expected to perform physical tasks such as lifting and stocking, operating equipment like ovens and scale printers, and supporting cake decorators with personalization and finishing touches.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be 21 years of age for any position that serves alcohol
  • Ability to stand, sit, lift up to 50 lbs, push, keyboard, use telephone, walk and bend for extended periods
  • Must be responsible and friendly
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Current leader endorsement required for internal transfers, promotions, and rehires
  • Rehire approval by HR business partner required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous baking experience preferred
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Basic math skills for scaling and measuring ingredients
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment safely
  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment

Job Duties

  • Mixing, weighing, proofing, baking, frying, decorating, finishing and merchandising quality bakery products using Bashas' recipes
  • Loading and unloading the oven, knowing the proper temperatures and duration to bake all varieties of product
  • Scaling cakes and cupcakes, icing sweet rolls, breads and cookies
  • Assisting in the ordering and receiving of bakery products and supplies
  • Controlling product inventory and managing out of stocks, shrink and supplies
  • Using scale printer machine, ensuring weights and pricing are correct
  • Monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement including shelf tags and shelf signage
  • Keeping a clean, neat and orderly bench, production area, storage area, and walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Wrapping, boxing, weighing, slicing, finishing, and stocking bakery department products, rotating them to ensure quality and safety
  • Displaying goods following bakery department or merchandising guidelines
  • Helping decorators with personalization and icing of cakes, donuts, sweet rolls and other products
  • Performing all other related duties as assigned
