We are currently seeking a fearless and accountable Bakery Team Lead who is not only positive and passionate but also ready to take charge of the bakery department. This pivotal role involves overseeing all bakery activities, ensuring that merchandising, sales, and customer service goals are met consistently. As a Bakery Team Lead, you will be an essential member of the team, providing supervision, guidance, and support to bakery personnel. Your leadership will help foster a collaborative and efficient work environment, enabling your team to operate smoothly even during the busiest periods. This role demands a keen eye for detail, the ability to work at a fast pace, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience at all times.

In this role, you will be responsible for directing daily bakery operations, from maintaining product quality and presentation to ensuring all safety and sanitary standards are upheld. The Bakery Team Lead's duties include engaging with customers with a positive attitude, processing various transactions accurately, monitoring product pricing and signage, and coordinating product displays following merchandising guidelines. You will also manage inventory, assist in product preparation tasks such as wrapping, bagging, and slicing, and support decorators and bakers during personalization of cakes and other specialty items.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Capable of lifting and stocking up to 50 lbs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and multitask effectively
  • Must be reliable and adhere to attendance policies
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Job Duties

  • Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members
  • Engaging with customers through smiles and greetings, offering product information, providing selling suggestions and active sampling and always giving a genuine thank you
  • Focusing on providing fast and friendly customer service
  • Processing cash register transactions, giving back change, processing checks, EBTs, and refunds
  • Using scale printer machine, ensuring weights and pricing are correct
  • Understanding the importance of and monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement as well as the use of product shelf tags and shelf signage
  • Keeping a clean, neat and orderly check stand/sales counter and work production areas
  • Wrapping, bagging, boxing, weighing, slicing, finishing, and stocking bakery department products, rotating them as necessary to ensure quality and safety
  • Displaying goods following bakery department and/or merchandising guidelines
  • Taking customer orders, ensuring orders are completed on time and to the customer's satisfaction
  • Helping decorators and bakers with personalization of cakes and icing of cakes, donuts, sweet rolls etc
  • All other related duties as assigned
