Job Requirements

  • Must be over the age of 21
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds or more regularly

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Cashiering experience preferred but willing to teach
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos
  • Strong communication skills
  • Bilingual skills a plus
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and decimals

Job Duties

  • Know and actively demonstrate daily the company mission statement and core values
  • Maintain uniform standard as detailed in the employee manual
  • Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor
  • Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products as needed
  • Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode
  • Properly use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment
  • Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items
  • Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers
  • Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required
  • Kindly ask the guest to read and answer the pin pad question before starting the transaction
  • Check acceptable identification when necessary
  • Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards
  • Issue receipts and change
  • Accurately count change back to guests
  • Bag or box merchandise with care
  • Assist with carry-outs when needed
  • Compute and record totals of all transactions on a daily record sheet
  • Call the code for a cash drop to maintain till balance
  • Keep the work area clean and neat
  • Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop
  • Answer questions and provide information to guests
  • Resolve guest complaints courteously
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present
  • Avoid use of personal cell phones on the sales floor
  • Stock shelves and check price tags
  • Monitor checkout station supplies
  • Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist with inventory process
  • Carry out directives of management
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation
  • Possess time management skills
  • Manage stress in a fast-paced environment
  • Stand for most of shift, bend and walk occasionally
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Push and/or pull 50-100 pounds occasionally
  • Work in accordance with safety regulations
  • Perform other projects and tasks as assigned
  • Maintain attendance and timeliness
