The role of a Meat Team Member within our store is both essential and dynamic. This position involves hands-on responsibility in the Meat and Seafood departments, where the team member will be involved in sourcing, preparing, and merchandising meat products. Our Meat Team Member is expected to execute daily operations that not only ensure food safety and sanitation but also create a memorable customer experience. Someone who is passionate about food, keen on learning, and dedicated to delivering unmatched customer service will thrive in this role.

The Meat Team Member's duties include maintaining a positive attitude, engaging customers with product knowledge and friendly interaction, and efficiently performing tasks such as cutting, grinding, slicing, weighing, wrapping, and labeling meat products according to quality and sanitation standards. This role requires the proper use and maintenance of department tools and equipment, from knives to grinders and wrapping machines, with an emphasis on safety precautions.

In addition, the Meat Team Member will be involved in inventory control and merchandising, helping to control product shrink and expenses through precise handling techniques. They will also be responsible for ensuring the meat counter and service areas are clean, orderly, and well-stocked to meet customer demands and support a smooth operational flow. Being part of a team, this member may occasionally assist other departments as needed, showcasing flexibility and a willingness to contribute to broader store objectives.

This position is of critical importance as it supports the overall reputation of the company by consistently delivering high-quality products and exceptional service. The Meat Team Member must have excellent communication skills and a customer-oriented mindset to foster positive interactions and promote product knowledge effectively. Job Duties

  • maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members
  • engaging with customers through smiles and greetings, offering product information, providing selling suggestions and active sampling and always giving a genuine thank you
  • ordering, cutting, grinding, slicing, weighing, wrapping and labeling according to quality, quantity, product freshness and food safety and sanitation standards
  • through proper handling, cutting, trimming and wrapping techniques, controls product shrinks and inventory expenses
  • selling products by providing customers with excellent and helpful product information
  • properly using the meat department tools and equipment including knives, saws, wrapping machine, tenderizer, patty maker, grinder, while meeting meat department safety standards
  • understanding the importance of correctly using and monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement
  • keeping a clean, neat and orderly, and well-stocked meat counter, work areas, meat service cases and self-service cases
  • helping with the preparation of ready to go meat products
  • slicing, weighing and merchandising of prepared deli meats and cheeses
  • displaying goods following deli department and/or merchandising guidelines
  • taking customer orders, ensuring orders are completed on time and to the customer's satisfaction
