The Woodridge Park District, established on October 21, 1969, is a municipal corporation dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for approximately 35,500 residents within a 10.26-square-mile area. Governed by the "Park District Code," an Illinois statute enacted in 1947, the district operates as a separate entity from the village, county, or other governmental bodies.
Facilities and Amenities
The district manages a diverse array of facilities and amenities designed to cater to the recreational needs of the community:
- Woodridge Athletic Recreation Center (ARC): Located at 8201 S. Janes Avenue, the ARC offers a multi-court gymnasium, a 40×60 yard artificial turf athletic field, and a variety of fitness classes.
- Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park: This water park features jungle safari-themed games, crafts, and special lunch offerings, providing a fun-filled environment for families.
- Village Greens Golf Course: A well-maintained 18-hole golf course offering a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels.
- Hobson Corner Park: This park includes an outdoor splash pad and pickleball courts, catering to various recreational activities.

Notable events include the Enchanted Prince & Princess Ball, Haunted Forest Walk, and various summer concerts.
Natural Resource Management
The district is committed to preserving native plant communities, wildlife diversity, and water quality. A comprehensive Natural Resource Management Plan guides these efforts.
These include conducting prescribed burns to improve conditions for native plants and reduce invasive species, ensuring sustainable environmental stewardship.
