About University of Georgia
The University of Georgia (UGA), established in 1785, is a public land-grant research university located in Athens, Georgia. It is the oldest public university in the United States and serves as the flagship institution of the University System of Georgia.
UGA offers a comprehensive range of academic programs through its eighteen schools and colleges. These include the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Public Health, and the recently approved School of Medicine.
The School of Medicine, set to open in 2026, aims to address the shortage of medical professionals in Georgia, particularly in underserved and rural areas.
