Overview

University Behavioral Center (UBC), established in 1989, is a psychiatric hospital located in Orlando, Florida. It is dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality mental health and substance abuse treatment services.

UBC offers a full range of programs for children, adolescents, and adults. The center's mission is to enable individuals to improve their overall quality of life in a comfortable and safe environment.

Location and Facilities

Situated on a 14-acre campus within the Central Florida Research Park Development, UBC is adjacent to the University of Central Florida. The facility includes state-of-the-art amenities such as an onsite school, swimming pool, wellness center/gymnasium, and an outdoor reflection atrium.

The hospital is divided into two physically separate wings: one for children/adolescents and another for adults. Each wing is subdivided into secured units with 24-hour supervision ensuring a safe and therapeutic living environment.

UBC maintains a smoke-free environment, promoting health for all patients and staff.

Treatment Programs

UBC offers a variety of treatment programs tailored to meet the unique needs of its patients, including:

• Acute Inpatient Treatment: Intensive, short-term care for severe mental health crises.
• Residential Treatment: Structured environment for longer-term care and support.
• Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): Day therapy sessions for patients transitioning from inpatient care.
• Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Support for individuals managing daily activities but needing extra care.
• Outpatient Program: Ongoing support and therapy in the community.

Specialized programs exist for military members and veterans, addressing their unique needs. UBC also provides innovative therapies such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and trauma-informed care.

Staff and Accreditation

The center's staff includes psychiatrists specializing in areas ranging from child to geriatric and substance abuse psychiatry.

UBC is accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) and licensed by the State of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration as a Class III Psychiatric Hospital.
