United Technologies

United Technologies Corporation (UTC) was an American multinational conglomerate headquartered in Farmington, Connecticut. Established in 1934 as United Aircraft Corporation, it rebranded to United Technologies Corporation in 1975 to reflect its diversified portfolio. UTC was a prominent player in the aerospace and building systems industries, offering a wide array of products and services.

Aerospace Division

• Pratt & Whitney: Specialized in designing and manufacturing aircraft engines and gas turbines for commercial, military, business jet, and general aviation markets.
• Collins Aerospace Systems: Formed in 2018 through the merger of Rockwell Collins and UTC Aerospace Systems, this division provided aerospace products and aftermarket service solutions.
• Sikorsky: Produced commercial and military helicopters, along with aftermarket parts and services.

Building Systems Division

• Otis Elevator Company: Manufactured, installed, and serviced elevators, escalators, and moving walkways.
• Carrier: Offered heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, fire, security, and building automation products and services.
• UTC Climate, Controls & Security: Provided fire detection and suppression systems, security alarm systems, access control systems, and security system integration and monitoring services.

In April 2020, UTC merged with Raytheon Company to form Raytheon Technologies Corporation, now known as RTX Corporation. This strategic merger combined UTC's aerospace and building systems expertise with Raytheon's defense and technology capabilities, creating one of the world's largest aerospace and defense manufacturers.

Prior to the merger, UTC operated numerous facilities across the United States, including its headquarters in Farmington, Connecticut, and research centers in East Hartford, Connecticut, and Berkeley, California.
