Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (UGMTC) is a Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, hunger, and addiction in the Twin Cities area.
Established over 120 years ago, UGMTC has evolved its services to meet the changing needs of the community. It offers a holistic approach that addresses both immediate necessities and long-term solutions.
Emergency Shelter and Basic Needs
UGMTC operates emergency shelters providing safe housing, nutritious meals, and essential services to those in immediate need.
For men, the Bethel Hotel Emergency Shelter offers 24/7 intake with beds, showers, clean clothing, and personal belongings storage. Guests receive three meals daily, year-round, ensuring their physical needs are met.
Comprehensive Support Programs
Beyond immediate relief, UGMTC provides programs designed to foster long-term stability and self-sufficiency:
- Mental Health Services: Licensed therapists provide individual and group counseling to address emotional and psychological needs.
- Addiction Recovery: Licensed drug and alcohol counselors support recovery integrating faith-based teachings with the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.
- Education and Job Training: Programs include GED classes, life-skills training, computer training, and job readiness to equip individuals with employment skills.
- Faith Formation: Bible studies, chapel services, and discipleship classes provide spiritual support to help individuals find hope and purpose.
- Children and Youth Programs: Licensed childcare offers early education for children six weeks to kindergarten; school-age children get support for enrollment and attendance.

- Men's Campus: 376 Western Avenue North, Saint Paul. Houses emergency shelter, men's dining hall, transitional housing, addiction recovery, chapel, mental health clinic, and donation center.
- Bethel Hotel Emergency Shelter for Men: 435 University Avenue East, Saint Paul. Provides emergency housing and services for men experiencing homelessness.
- Naomi Family Program: 340 Cedar Street, Saint Paul. Offers safe shelter and restorative services for women and children, with mental health support, addiction recovery, and educational programs.
