Toot'n Totum Food Stores, established in 1950 by Eldon "Lefty" and Novie Mitchell, began as a convenience store in Amarillo, Texas. The name originated from customers honking their horns for service, prompting staff to deliver orders directly to their vehicles.

Over the decades, the company has expanded significantly, becoming one of the largest private employers in the Amarillo area, with over 1,600 team members across more than 100 locations in the Texas Panhandle, Oklahoma, Kansas, and New Mexico.
