Tahoe Joe's Famous Steakhouse is a renowned chain of steakhouses based in California's Central Valley, celebrated for its inviting atmosphere, exceptional service, and high-quality cuisine. Established in 1996, the restaurant chain draws inspiration from the legendary chef Tahoe Joe, a prominent figure in the Lake Tahoe region during the 1870s mining era.

The ambiance is reminiscent of a first-rate ski lodge, featuring pine log beams, spacious ceilings, and hand-painted teepee lamps. Authentic artifacts and turn-of-the-century photographs transport guests back in time, while the warm glow of a stone fireplace adds to the cozy, lodge-like atmosphere.

At the heart of the menu are its signature steaks, made from USDA, Midwest corn-fed beef, cut thick, and charbroiled over a crackling almond wood fire. Notable dishes include the slow-roasted Joe's Steak, Railroad Camp Shrimp, and the homemade Nevada Cheesecake.

History and Vision

The concept of Tahoe Joe's Famous Steakhouse was born in 1993, designed around the legendary chef from the Lake Tahoe region during the glorious mining days of the 1870s. The goal was to create an atmosphere like a first-rate ski lodge in the mountains and offer the finest flavors in Sierra Mountain Dining.

Acquisition and Expansion

In October 2021, BBQ Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que, acquired Tahoe Joe's out of bankruptcy. This acquisition included the five remaining locations in Fresno, Visalia, Bakersfield, Roseville, and Vacaville.

BBQ Holdings aims to rejuvenate the brand and expand its growth by integrating Tahoe Joe's into their portfolio.
