About SFE- Southwest Foodservice Excellence
Southwest Foodservice Excellence (SFE) is a culinary-based foodservice management company dedicated exclusively to K-12 student nutrition. Founded in 2004, SFE aims to transform school meals by offering fresh, from-scratch cooking that fuels students to reach their highest potential.
With a commitment to providing delicious and nutritious meals, SFE prepares over 75% of its recipes from scratch, using whole, raw, and local products when available. This approach ensures meals are flavorful and packed with nutrients.
SFE offers a diverse menu with over 3,000 on-trend choices, introducing new restaurant-inspired, custom cuisines each year and changing menus monthly. This variety keeps students excited about eating at school and encourages healthy eating habits.
The company operates in 22 states, serving 165 district partners and over 1,800 school buildings, with more than 150 million meals served annually.
Key Programs and Initiatives
SFE's dedication to innovation is evident in its Future Foodies program, which promotes nutrition and culinary education among students. This program was recognized with the 2023 FM Best Concepts Award in the Best Wellness Concept category.
In addition to culinary initiatives, SFE has partnered with the Humane Society of the United States to pilot plant-based meals in nine schools. This effort diversifies students' plates with inclusive options while supporting sustainability goals.
