About Pacific University

Pacific University, established in 1849 as Tualatin Academy, is a private institution located in Forest Grove, Oregon, approximately 23 miles west of Portland. Over the years, it has expanded to include campuses in Hillsboro, Eugene, and Woodburn, serving a diverse student body of over 3,500 individuals.

Academic Colleges

The university offers a comprehensive range of programs through its five colleges:

  • College of Arts & Sciences: Provides over 60 undergraduate majors and minors, including unique options in Asia-Pacific studies, communication sciences & disorders, creative writing, editing and publishing, music therapy, outdoor leadership, nonprofit leadership, social work, and sustainability-centered art and science programs.
  • College of Business: Offers undergraduate degrees and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Hillsboro campus.
  • College of Education: Established in 1994, it offers programs in education, including a Master of Social Work program in Eugene.
  • College of Health Professions: Founded in 2006, it includes 13 different degree programs and a certification in gerontology, focusing on interprofessional cooperation and serving underserved populations.
  • College of Optometry: One of the university's oldest colleges, offering a doctorate in optometry and operating eye clinics and eyeglass dispensaries throughout the Portland area.

Healthcare Clinics

Pacific University operates several healthcare clinics across the greater Portland area, providing services in audiology, dental hygiene, optometry, psychology, and interprofessional care.

These clinics offer students practical experience while serving the community.

Campuses and Locations

The university's campuses are strategically located to offer students access to the best of the Pacific Northwest.

  • Forest Grove campus: Features historic brick buildings and modern learning facilities under a grove of towering oak trees.
  • Hillsboro campus: Situated in the heart of Portland’s Health and Education District; home to many graduate and professional programs.

The Eugene campus, established in 1992, offers programs in the College of Education.

The Woodburn campus, opened in 2012, focuses on education with an emphasis on STEM and teaching diverse students.
