- Owen Sea Lion Shores: Opened in 2020, this exhibit features a 275,000-gallon saltwater pool with natural wave chambers, shallow beaches for young pups learning to swim, and an underwater viewing cavern.
Conservation and Education
The zoo is dedicated to conservation efforts through its Center for Conservation and Research. Key areas include conservation genetics, conservation medicine, rare plant conservation, reproductive sciences, and comparative nutrition.
Additionally, the Lee G. Simmons Wildlife Safari Park near Ashland, Nebraska, is a 440-acre drive-through wildlife park affiliated with the zoo. It features native North American animals like bison, elk, and wolves.
Visitor Experience
Visitors can enjoy attractions such as the Omaha Zoo Railroad, a 2.5-mile narrow gauge train that loops through the zoo, and the tram, a trackless vehicle with multiple stops around the park.
