About NatureBridge
NatureBridge Overview
NatureBridge is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing immersive environmental science education to young people. Established in 1971 as the Yosemite Institute, it has grown to become the largest residential environmental education partner of the National Park Service.
Each year, NatureBridge engages over 30,000 students and teachers through multi-day programs in four national parks: Yosemite National Park and Golden Gate National Recreation Area in California; Olympic National Park in Washington; and Prince William Forest Park in Virginia.
The organization's mission is to connect young people to the wonder and science of the natural world, igniting self-discovery and inspiring stewardship of the planet.
Through hands-on environmental science programs, students explore diverse ecosystems, engage in scientific inquiry, and develop a lasting relationship with the environment.
Commitment to Equity and Inclusion
NatureBridge's programs are designed to be inclusive, intentionally bringing students from underserved communities to experience transformative education in national parks. Nearly 50% of participating schools receive scholarship support, and more than 30% of students come from underrepresented communities.
The organization is committed to equity, inclusion, and diversity, striving to create a welcoming environment where all participants feel seen, connected, and celebrated.
