About Mercer Mass Timber

Mercer Mass Timber is a leading North American manufacturer specializing in sustainable timber building materials, including cross-laminated timber (CLT), glue-laminated timber (GLT), and glulam products. As a subsidiary of Mercer International Inc., a global provider of renewable materials and energy, Mercer Mass Timber is committed to advancing wood technology to transform the construction industry.

Established in August 2021, Mercer Mass Timber began operations with a state-of-the-art facility in Spokane Valley, Washington. This 253,000-square-foot plant is one of the largest CLT production facilities in North America, with an annual capacity of approximately 140,000 cubic meters.

The facility is strategically located on 37 acres with easy access to rail lines and interstate highways, enhancing its distribution capabilities.

Company Expansion

In June 2023, Mercer Mass Timber expanded its operations by acquiring Structurlam Mass Timber Corporation, significantly increasing its production capacity and market presence. This acquisition added two new manufacturing facilities:

  • Mercer Conway: A 283,000-square-foot facility located in Conway, Arkansas, with an annual production capacity of 74,000 cubic meters of CLT and glulam. It sits on 124 acres near major transportation corridors and is close to 19 million acres of sustainable forestland.
  • Mercer Okanagan: Comprised of two facilities in Okanagan Falls, British Columbia, positioned to serve both Canadian and U.S. markets. These facilities are undergoing modernization with a $7 million investment aimed at enhancing production efficiencies and expanding mass timber product offerings.

Product Offerings and Sustainability

Mercer Mass Timber's products are designed to meet the growing demand for sustainable construction materials. Their mass timber is sourced from certified forests in Canada and the U.S., using species such as Spruce-Pine-Fir (SPF), Douglas Fir-Larch, Southern Yellow Pine, and Alaska Yellow Cedar.

This approach ensures the durability and quality of their products while reducing their carbon footprint.

Construction Services

In March 2024, Mercer Mass Timber launched a construction services division. This division offers on-site installation services and project consulting, aiming to educate the construction industry on mass timber installation and assist first-time users.

Notable Projects

Mercer Mass Timber supplied materials for Walmart's new Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas, which is the largest mass timber corporate campus in the United States. The installation of mass timber panels for this project was completed in spring 2024.
