About Maryville Academy

Maryville Academy, established in 1883, is a child care organization rooted in Catholic social teaching. It is dedicated to preserving the dignity of children at every age. Its mission is to protect children and strengthen families by empowering their intellectual, spiritual, moral, and emotional growth.

Over the years, Maryville has expanded its services to address the evolving needs of children and families. It offers a comprehensive range of programs across four main service areas.

Family Services

  • Maryville Crisis Nursery: Located at 6650 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL 60634, this program provides free, short-term care for children aged birth to 6 during parental crises. It protects them from abuse, neglect, or trauma.
  • Catholic Youth Organization (CYO): Founded in 1930, CYO offers organized athletic programs including basketball, cross country, track and field, and cheerleading. It fosters strong relationships in families and communities through sports.
  • Maryville Golf Academy: Established in 1994, this program teaches children and young adults life skills and character development through golf. It emphasizes values such as etiquette, respect, honesty, perseverance, responsibility, and sportsmanship.

Residential Services

  • Saint Dominic Savio Home: Located at 1150 N. River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016, this home provides clinical care and life skills education for young men aged 14 to 18 transitioning from the juvenile justice system.
  • Saint Teresa of Calcutta Home: Situated at 951 W. Bartlett Road, Bartlett, IL 60103, this facility offers similar services for young women aged 14 to 18, aiding their transition from the juvenile justice system.

Healthcare Services

  • Children’s Healthcare Center (CHC): Located at 6650 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL 60634, CHC provides care for medically fragile and technology-dependent children. It offers a "home away from home" environment for children and their families.
  • Family Behavioral Health Clinic (FBHC): With locations in Bartlett, Chicago, and Des Plaines, this clinic offers behavioral health services, substance use disorder counseling, and DUI Risk Education classes. Its goal is to heal individuals and families through evaluations and therapeutic counseling.

Educational Services

Charles H. Walsh Sr. Academy & Career Tech High School, formerly known as Jen School, prepares students aged 14 to 22 for high-demand trades and college readiness. It offers a comprehensive curriculum including academics, social-emotional learning, and career technical education.
