The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1982 by former Washington Senators player Chuck Hinton. Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the MLBPAA's mission is to promote the game of baseball, raise funds for charitable causes, inspire and educate youth through positive sports images, and uphold the dignity of the game through its alumni players.
With a membership exceeding 7,500 individuals, the MLBPAA includes current and former Major League Baseball players, umpires, managers, coaches, front-office personnel, and fans. Through its charitable initiatives, the organization has raised over $42 million for both local and national charities.
Beneficiaries include the Children's Hospitals, American Diabetes Association, Boys and Girls Clubs, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Special Olympics, Leukemia Society of America, the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, and Little League Baseball.
Community Engagement Programs
A cornerstone of the MLBPAA's initiatives is the Legends for Youth Clinic Series. This program offers young baseball enthusiasts, aged 6 to 16, the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game from former Major League players.
The clinics emphasize education and positive decision-making, reaching over 150,000 children across the United States and internationally.

This dinner honors former players' on- and off-field accomplishments and their community contributions.
Awards presented include the National and American League Pitcher and Player of the Year Awards, the Dick Schaap Memorial Player of the Year Award, and the Heart and Hustle Award.
Support for Former Players
The MLBPAA owns two for-profit subsidiaries: Major League Alumni Marketing (MLAM) and Major League Alumni Services (MLAS).
MLAM focuses on securing compensation for former players through endorsements and appearances.
MLAS provides services such as free heart and lung care for former players, courtesy of Deborah Hospital.
Governance
The MLBPAA is governed by an alumni board that includes notable figures such as Steve Rogers (Chairman), Jean Afterman, Sandy Alderson, and Jim Thome (President).
