It stands as the largest metropolitan daily in the United States, with a print circulation of approximately 118,760 and a digital subscriber base of around 500,000, making it the fifth-largest among U.S. newspapers.

Under the ownership of Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong since 2018, the Times has undergone significant transformations.

In July 2025, Dr. Soon-Shiong announced plans to take the newspaper public within the next year, aiming to democratize ownership and allow the public to have a stake in the publication.

The newspaper's editorial leadership has seen changes, with Terry Tang appointed as the executive editor in early 2024, becoming the first woman to hold this position in the paper's history.
