La Mar Cocina Peruana

La Mar Cocina Peruana is a renowned Peruvian restaurant located along San Francisco's picturesque Embarcadero waterfront. Established by acclaimed Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio, La Mar has become a culinary landmark. It offers an authentic sea-to-table dining experience that showcases the rich flavors and traditions of Peruvian cuisine.

In June 2025, La Mar unveiled its first major renovation in 17 years, introducing a refreshed design inspired by oceanic themes. The interior now features deep cyan ceramic tiles and indigo-dyed banquettes, creating a sleek yet inviting ambiance.

A semi-private chef's table with views of the kitchen and waterfront patio has been added to enhance the dining experience.

Menu Highlights

The menu, led by Executive Chef Victoriano Lopez, celebrates authentic Peruvian flavors through thoughtfully crafted, seasonal dishes. New additions include:

• Cebiche Victoriano with local halibut, sunchoke leche de tigre, choclo, sweet potatoes, and artichoke chips
• La Grand Bandeja Cebichera with Cebiche Clasico, Causa de California, Nigiri Anticuchero, jumbo prawns, hamachi sashimi, and Tiradito Laqueado
• Tiradito al Olivo, Spanish octopus with purple potato sauce, avocado, dried black olives, crispy octopus chicharron, and habanero oil
• Arroz Con Cangrejo, a large-format dish for 2–4 people featuring arborio rice in Dungeness crab broth with aji panca, aji amarillo, white wine, topped with crab meat, avocado, and spicy huacatay sauce

The Chef's Tasting Menu has also been updated to include a fresh selection of authentic, flavorful dishes priced at $109 per person.

Location

La Mar Cocina Peruana is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner at Pier 1 ½ on San Francisco Embarcadero’s waterfront.
