About LA Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers are a professional basketball team based in Inglewood, California. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference. Established in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves, the franchise relocated to San Diego in 1978, becoming the San Diego Clippers. The team eventually moved to Los Angeles in 1984, adopting the current name.
The Clippers will play home games at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, starting with the 2024–25 NBA season. This state-of-the-art arena offers an intimate and intense fan experience with modern amenities and advanced technology. It aims to become the world's first climate-positive arena.
The Clippers have partnered with Aspiration, a financial services platform focused on environmental impact, integrating sustainable practices into the arena's operations. Initiatives include:
- Operating 100% carbon-free from day one
- Utilizing embodied carbon concrete
- Implementing comprehensive waste reduction programs
Under the ownership of Steve Ballmer, who acquired the team in 2014, the Clippers have seen significant growth and development. The franchise has invested in player acquisitions, facilities, and community engagement. They also launched ClipperVision, a direct-to-consumer streaming service offering live games, alternative viewing options, and on-demand content.
The team's roster has featured notable players such as Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan, leading to the celebrated "Lob City" era marked by high-flying dunks and dynamic play. Despite these successes, advancing deep into the playoffs and securing an NBA championship remain key goals.
The Clippers are dedicated to community engagement through the LA Clippers Foundation. This initiative provides resources and opportunities aimed at leveling the playing field for youth in Southern California, reflecting the team's commitment beyond basketball.
