About Island Creek Oysters
Island Creek Oysters, founded in 1995 by Skip Bennett, is a renowned aquaculture farm based in Duxbury, Massachusetts. It has evolved into one of the largest and most reputable oyster businesses in the United States, supplying millions of oysters annually to top chefs and restaurants worldwide.
The company operates its own shellfish hatchery, retail store, raw bar, and full-service restaurant, The Winsor House, all located in Duxbury. Additionally, they run a retail store and quick-service restaurant called The Shop in Portland, Maine.
In 2025, Island Creek Oysters expanded its presence in New England by opening a new outdoor raw bar in Boston's Seaport District. This spacious 20,000-square-foot venue offers a variety of offerings, including a dozen oysters from Duxbury, Saquish, and Dennis for $33, clam dip and chips for $10, and a $5 hotdog.
In 2023, the company opened a 10,000-square-foot cannery in New Bedford, Massachusetts, producing shelf-stable shellfish products. This facility provides shellfish farmers with consistent market access and offers nutritious, local seafood products year-round.
Island Creek Oysters is dedicated to growing food that is good for people and the environment. Their oysters are praised for their clean, briny, and succulent taste. They have been featured in renowned restaurants like The French Laundry and Per Se.
