About International Leadership of Texas
International Leadership of Texas (ILTexas) is a free public charter school system dedicated to preparing students for exceptional leadership roles in the international community. Founded by Mr. Eddie Conger and approved by the Texas Education Agency in November 2012, ILTexas serves over 22,000 K-12 students across 25 campuses in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Cleveland, and College Station areas.
At the core of ILTexas's educational approach is a unique leadership program that emphasizes servant leadership, encapsulated in their motto, "Others Before Self." This program encourages students to engage in service-learning projects annually, fostering a sense of responsibility and community involvement.
A distinctive feature of ILTexas is its commitment to multilingual education. Students are expected to master English, Spanish, and Chinese, equipping them with language skills essential for global communication.
This trilingual proficiency is particularly relevant given Texas's strong economic ties with Mexico, Canada, and China, and the global prevalence of these languages.
In addition to its charter schools, ILTexas operates a private high school that fosters a diverse, intercultural environment by bringing together local and international students.
This setting promotes lifelong bonds and global friendships, preparing students for leadership roles in the international community.
ILTexas's dedication to global education is further demonstrated through partnerships with schools in China, facilitating teacher and student exchanges.
The system employs native language teachers from Spain and China and hosts over 50 Chinese students at the high school level, ensuring that students not only learn the language but also immerse themselves in the culture.
The school system's commitment to excellence is evident in its impressive graduation rates, with a four-year graduation rate of 98.9% for the Class of 2023, surpassing the statewide average of 90.3%.
