About Highway Inn
Highway Inn is a family-owned Hawaiian restaurant that has been serving authentic island cuisine since 1947. Established by Seiichi Toguchi, the original location was on Farrington Highway in Waipahu, Hawaii. Over the decades, the restaurant has expanded and remains committed to traditional Hawaiian dishes, becoming a beloved establishment for both locals and visitors.
The menu features classic Hawaiian dishes such as Lau Lau, Kalua Pig, Beef Stew Combos, Pipikaula, Poi, Smoked Meat, Squid Luau, Poke, and Lomi Salmon. Each dish showcases the rich culinary heritage of Hawaii using time-honored methods. For example, Lau Lau consists of pork wrapped in taro leaves, while Kalua Pig is traditionally cooked in an underground oven, resulting in tender, flavorful meat.
Highway Inn also offers catering services through its Waipahu location. They provide Hawaiian, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, and local flavors islandwide, allowing customers to enjoy favorite dishes at special events and gatherings.
The restaurant was featured on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” highlighting its importance in the Hawaiian culinary scene.
