Harris Health System is a comprehensive healthcare provider dedicated to serving all residents of Harris County, Texas. It is the first accredited healthcare institution in the county designated by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Patient-Centered Medical Home. The system is one of the largest systems in the nation to achieve this esteemed quality standard.
The system operates diverse facilities, including community health centers, same-day clinics, multi-specialty clinics, a dental center, mobile health units, and two full-service hospitals. Primary Care Services
Primary care is delivered through a network of community health centers providing over 800,000 doctor visits annually. This network is the largest public primary care health network in Texas. Patients access medical homes staffed by physicians from Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
A fully electronic medical record system facilitates coordinated care, allowing residents to receive comprehensive healthcare within their neighborhoods.
Specialty and Acute Care Services

Hospital Facilities
- Ben Taub General Hospital: Located in the Texas Medical Center, it is a Level I trauma center with 650 licensed beds. Staff includes faculty, residents, and students from Baylor College of Medicine.
- Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ) General Hospital: Positioned northeast of downtown Houston, LBJ is expanding to a 450-bed general hospital with a Level I trauma center. Staffed by faculty, residents, and students from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
