About Graham Windham
Graham Windham is a private nonprofit organization based in New York City. It provides comprehensive support and services to children, young adults, and families facing challenges such as abuse, neglect, and systemic poverty.
Established in 1806 by Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton and other prominent women, Graham Windham has evolved from an orphanage into a leading innovator in family and youth development.

Programs and Initiatives
One flagship initiative is Graham SLAM (Support, Lead, Achieve, and Model). It provides long-term education and career coaching for young adults from high school through college or vocational school.
As of 2016, approximately 200 young people participated in Graham SLAM, with plans to expand services to 1,000 individuals.
Graham Windham also runs Beacon and Cornerstone Activity Centers at public schools and public housing in Manhattan and the Bronx. These programs offer:
- Tutoring and extracurricular activities during the school year
- Assistance with admission to competitive schools and colleges
- Full-day summer camps and summer jobs for youth
All services are provided free of charge to the community.
