About Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona
Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) is a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals, strengthening families, and building stronger communities across Arizona. Established in 1947, GCNA has grown to become one of the largest Goodwill districts in the United States.
It operates over 90 retail stores and 19 Career Centers throughout central and northern Arizona. These include locations in:

Mission and Services
The organization’s mission is to "End Poverty Through the Power of Work." This is achieved by offering no-cost career development, training, and education services to community members. Services include resume assistance, digital training, and career assessment.
These programs help individuals connect to jobs and find meaningful employment opportunities tailored to their needs.
Retail and Environmental Impact
GCNA’s retail operations are critical in funding these mission services. The organization collects and resells donated items, diverting millions of pounds of material from landfills each year.
In 2023, GCNA collected and diverted more than 280 million pounds of material from Arizona landfills, promoting environmental sustainability across the state.
Specialized Programs
GCNA offers specialized programs to support various community groups, including:
- Veteran Career Center: Providing veterans and their families with job assistance, resume building, mock interviews, and training.
- Adult High School program: Helping students aged 18 and older earn diplomas, workforce certifications, and offering no-cost childcare, life, and career coaching.
- Homeless Program: Partnering with Mercy House to provide emergency shelter intervention for families experiencing homelessness in Maricopa, Yavapai, and Coconino counties.
Recognition and Innovation
GCNA’s commitment to community service and sustainability has earned it recognition, including being named one of Arizona's Most Admired Companies in 2024.
The organization also launched "Reclaimed Fashion," an online thrift store offering high-quality secondhand clothing and accessories for women, men, and children. This initiative promotes sustainable shopping while supporting GCNA’s mission.
