About Fort Lauderdale United FC
Fort Lauderdale United FC is a professional women's soccer club based in Broward County, Florida, competing in the USL Super League (USLS). Established on November 21, 2023, the club made its debut in the inaugural 2024–25 season. It became the first professional women's soccer team in South Florida.
The team plays its home matches at Beyond Bancard Field at Nova Southeastern University (NSU Florida). This is a soccer-specific stadium with a seating capacity of nearly 7,000 fans. The venue underwent a $7 million renovation, transforming the former Miami Dolphins training facility into a state-of-the-art home.
Under the leadership of CEO Tommy Smith and Head Coach Tyrone Mears, Fort Lauderdale United FC has quickly established itself as a competitive force in the league. In their inaugural season, the team advanced to the USL Super League Final, showcasing their rapid development and commitment to excellence.
Expansion and Future Plans
In addition to the professional women's team, Fort Lauderdale United FC is expanding its presence in the soccer community. In April 2025, the club announced plans to launch a professional men's team in USL League One, set to begin play in 2026.
This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive pathway for both male and female players from youth to professional levels, ensuring continued growth and development within the club.
Player Development Programs
The club's commitment to player development is demonstrated by its entry into the USL Academy League, offering a structured pathway for female players to progress through the ranks.
Youth players (U20 and below) have access to the USL Pathway Classic, an unrestricted youth tournament hosted by a U.S. Soccer professional league organization. This provides a platform for players to showcase their skills on a national stage.
Club Identity and Mission
Fort Lauderdale United FC's crest features the intertwined initials "FTL," symbolizing the city's canals. The colors represent Fort Lauderdale's renowned beaches and shallow waters.
