History

Established in the 1940s, the site originally functioned as a shrimp and fish factory, supplying Gulf shrimp nationwide, including to President John F. Kennedy at the White House.

In 1966, the current building was constructed to meet increasing demand for Galveston shrimp. By the 1970s, the proprietor's wife began serving Shrimp Po-boys to workers, marking the beginning of the restaurant's legacy.
