About Felton Institute
Felton Institute, established in 1889, is the oldest nonsectarian, nonprofit charitable social-services provider in San Francisco. The organization is dedicated to strengthening families and empowering communities by offering a comprehensive range of innovative and evidence-based social services.
With a focus on low-income families, children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities, Felton Institute aims to enhance the quality of life for all San Franciscans.
Children, Youth, Family, and Transitional Age Youth Services
The institute provides services designed to foster holistic development and resilience among children from birth to six years old and their families. These include early care and education, early intervention, and inclusion programs.
For youth and transitional age youth, programs include mental health services, wrap-around family support, workforce development, and social services accessible to all enrolled families.
Adult and Transitional Age Youth Social Services
The Adult and Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Services division delivers programs offering mental health support, resources, crisis intervention, and supportive housing.
These services promote psychological and physical well-being for clients served by the institute.
Justice Services
Felton Institute collaborates with local agencies and officials to provide rapid response, community-driven engagement, service linkage, and relationship-building assistance.
The focus is on underserved and underrepresented communities, especially those who are insecurely housed and justice-impacted, aiming to create pathways to stability.
Senior Social Services
The Senior Division specializes in mental health, workforce development, and community engagement. It helps older adults flourish in their communities with dignity, security, and high quality of life.
The division operates programs in six Bay Area counties, including:

Early Psychosis Programs
Felton Institute offers innovative, evidence-based programs to diagnose and treat early psychosis and bipolar disorder. These programs provide screening and treatment to adolescents and young adults.
Clients learn skills to manage symptoms, focus on recovery, and reach their full potential.
Training, Research, and Evaluation (TRE)
The Training, Research, and Evaluation division provides professional development and continuing education for social service providers across California and the nation.
Utilizing evidence-based and informed best practices, TRE pioneers new strategies for staff development in social work.

Felton Institute operates a variety of program sites and offices across the San Francisco Bay Area. The main office is located at 1500 Franklin Street in San Francisco.
Additional locations in San Francisco include Visitacion Valley, The Bayview, the Mission District, and the Outer Richmond District.
The institute also has offices in Alameda, San Mateo, Marin, Monterey, and other counties.
