About Family Promise Rochester
Family Promise Rochester is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting families in Rochester, Minnesota, who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
Their mission is to help these families achieve sustainable independence by providing person-centered, holistic services in collaboration with the greater community.
Established in 2004 as the Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (RAIHN), the organization rebranded to Family Promise Rochester in 2021 to better reflect its expanded services beyond shelter.
Programs Offered
- Transitional Housing: Families in crisis receive safe, temporary housing while working toward stability. This program offers housing management, employment assistance, and guidance in securing permanent housing.
- Homelessness Prevention: Financial assistance, advocacy, and referrals help families at risk of eviction stay in their homes and navigate housing challenges before becoming homeless.
- Life Skills Program: Unites families through shared experiences and community support as they work toward common goals. Partnering with Rochester Public Schools, the program offers guidance on parenting, childhood trauma, and early education, along with teachings on financial literacy, health, mindfulness, and other essential life skills.
In April 2025, Family Promise Rochester opened The Promise House, a transitional housing facility in Southeast Rochester. Unlike traditional shelters, The Promise House provides a home-like setting where families stay together while receiving support and guidance.
On-site Family Housing Specialists assist parents in securing employment, finding childcare, and navigating housing options, offering a structured path toward long-term stability.
