About Entergy Corporation

Entergy Corporation is a Fortune 500 integrated energy company headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. Serving approximately 3 million customers across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, Entergy is a leading provider of electric power in the Deep South.

The company operates with a generating capacity of about 24,000 megawatts, delivering reliable and affordable energy solutions to its diverse customer base.

Founded in 1913 as Arkansas Power Company, Entergy has a rich history of growth and innovation. Over the decades, it expanded through strategic mergers and acquisitions, including the formation of Middle South Utilities in 1949 and its rebranding to Entergy in 1989.

This expansion enabled Entergy to diversify its energy portfolio, which now includes natural gas, nuclear, coal, oil, and hydroelectric power sources.

In recent years, Entergy has been at the forefront of advancing cleaner and more efficient energy solutions. In November 2024, Entergy Mississippi broke ground on the Delta Blues Advanced Power Station in Greenville, Mississippi.

This $1.2 billion investment is expected to be operational by 2028 and will provide power to 385,000 homes across 45 counties. The facility is designed to utilize advanced combined-cycle combustion turbine technology capable of using natural gas and hydrogen, significantly reducing carbon emissions.

Similarly, Entergy Texas has proposed the construction of two new natural gas power plants to meet the state's rising electricity demand:

  • The Legend plant in Port Arthur, Texas, is projected to cost $1.46 billion and produce 754 megawatts of power.
  • The Lone Star plant near Cleveland, Texas, is expected to cost $753 million and generate 453 megawatts.

Both plants are designed with carbon capture technology and combustion turbines capable of running on hydrogen, aligning with Entergy's commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Entergy's dedication to sustainability and corporate responsibility is evident in its significant contributions to local communities. Since 2018, the company has delivered more than $100 million annually through philanthropy, volunteerism, and advocacy, fostering economic development and social well-being.

With a workforce of approximately 12,000 employees, Entergy continues to invest in the reliability and resilience of the energy system, striving to meet evolving customer needs while promoting environmental stewardship and economic growth.
