Concilio De Organizaciones Hispanas, also known as Concilio, is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for diverse communities. It focuses particularly on the Latino population in the Philadelphia region.

Established in 1962, Concilio is the oldest Latino organization in Philadelphia. It was founded by Latino leaders concerned with economic, social, and political issues facing the growing Latino community of the city.

The organization's mission is to cultivate the strength and resilience of children and families and improve the community's quality of life.

It also works to maintain the community's heritage, history, and culture by providing a comprehensive network of social, educational, cultural, prevention, and intervention services to underserved young people and families.

Programs Offered

• Foster Care and Adoption Services: Recruiting and supporting foster parents providing temporary care to children, plus bilingual, confidential adoption services to families.
• Afterschool Programs for Youth: Assisting middle and high school students in developing critical thinking and life skills through experiential learning, arts, recreation, homework help, and tutoring.
• Victim Witness Services: Supporting victims of crime in Philadelphia’s East Division by informing them about the criminal justice process and offering continuous support.
• Youth Empowerment Centers: Providing safe havens for at-risk youth and young adults with social services aimed at gun violence reduction, in partnership with other community organizations.

Concilio is also renowned for organizing cultural events that celebrate Latino heritage.

The organization founded the Puerto Rican Festival in 1964 and the Hispanic Festival at Penn's Landing in 1981. These events attract thousands annually, celebrating Latin culture and heritage.
