BlueOval SK

BlueOval SK is a joint venture between Ford Motor Company and SK On, established in 2022 to manufacture advanced lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles (EVs). This collaboration combines Ford's 120 years of automotive expertise with SK On's two decades of battery technology innovation. The goal is to lead the transformation of the EV battery industry.

The venture involves a significant investment of $11.4 billion, with plans to create approximately 11,000 new jobs across its facilities in Kentucky and Tennessee.

Primary Manufacturing Sites

• BlueOval SK Battery Park in Glendale, Kentucky: This 1,500-acre campus will house two co-located battery plants, each capable of producing up to 43 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually, totaling 86 GWh. Production is scheduled to begin in 2025.
• BlueOval City in Stanton, Tennessee: Envisioned as a sustainable automotive manufacturing ecosystem, this $5.6 billion campus will include a 43 GWh battery plant alongside Ford's electric vehicle assembly plant and supplier facilities. Production is also slated to commence in 2025.

BlueOval SK's mission is to support sustainable transportation by producing high-capacity, reliable batteries for future Ford and Lincoln electric vehicles. The company leverages SK On's proprietary technology, developed over two decades, to ensure safety, efficient charging, and extended driving range for EVs.

In addition to manufacturing, BlueOval SK is committed to community engagement and workforce development. The Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) BlueOval SK Training Center, a 42,000-square-foot facility near the Kentucky site, offers training programs to equip individuals with skills needed for careers in advanced battery manufacturing.
