BJC HealthCare, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a comprehensive, non-profit healthcare organization dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of the communities it serves. Established in 1993, BJC has grown to encompass 15 hospitals and numerous health service organizations. Its reach extends across the metropolitan St. Louis area, mid-Missouri, and Southern Illinois.

At the core of BJC's offerings are its two nationally recognized academic hospitals: Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital. Both institutions are affiliated with the Washington University School of Medicine, ensuring a strong foundation in medical education and research.

Flagship Hospitals

Barnes-Jewish Hospital stands as the largest hospital in the St. Louis area and the state of Missouri. It serves as the adult teaching hospital for Washington University School of Medicine. This hospital is one of three Level I trauma centers in St. Louis and houses the Charles F. Knight Emergency and Trauma Center.

The hospital also features the Center for Advanced Medicine and the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center, a partnership with Washington University School of Medicine. The Siteman Cancer Center is the only cancer center in Missouri designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute.

St. Louis Children's Hospital, established in 1879, is the oldest pediatric hospital west of the Mississippi River and the seventh oldest in the United States. It serves as the pediatric teaching hospital for Washington University School of Medicine and is the only Pediatric Level I Trauma Center in Missouri.

The hospital offers a comprehensive range of pediatric specialties and treats over 275,000 patients annually. It has performed more pediatric lung transplants than any other institution worldwide and was the first to administer insulin to a pediatric patient in the United States.
